The Ugly® “Hybrid” NoseRider

8′ 5″ to 9′ 6″, starting at $1,650 for the sanded finish of the ultra-light H.

NOTE: Because of Ugly’s extraordinary stability throughout, all Ugly models are great for beginners too.

The Ugly Hybrid (H), Bob Purvey Design noserider maintains the integral shape of the original Ugly, authoritatively known as “The Ultimate Noserider.”

The Ugly set the standard noserider style surfboard design and has become the measuring stick, copied by many shapers worldwide.

The “H” Ugly shape is the most advanced design to date.  It has The Ugly’s original wide, blunt nose, concave underneath the nose, and kicked-up tail. Now it has modifications to the rail shape that makes it turn faster and ride higher on the water’s surface, allowing the overall board to be thinner and lighter.  In addition, new Ugly’s are made with state-of-the-art materials, making them more durable.

Given the polished finish of the standard H, or the sanded finish of the ultra-light H, you will own an Ugly that will appreciate over time and perform faster.

You can get more details on the H noserider’s dedicated page. If you any other questions, check out the FAQ page for the most answers. Then, still if you have even more question, contact Bob.

Super Ugly®

7′ to 8′ 4″ starting at $1,450 for the sanded finish of the SU.

The Super Ugly (SU) Bob Purvey Design is based on the original Super Ugly noserider surfboard shape, maintaining the blunt nose, concave underneath the nose, and kicked-up tail.  The new rail shape makes the SU turn faster and ride higher on the water’s surface, making the body thinner and lighter.  The SU is The Ugly shape proportioned to the mid-size length. The new rail and bottom shape make the SU float higher on the surface like a longboard, but it acts like a shortboard. Everything happens super fast on the SU.

This mini-noserider design was spawned at the beginning of the shortboard revolution in 1967.  It’s the first innovation, departing from the original Ugly longboard shape.  This mini-noserider, “Fun-board” size is limited to eight feet four inches long.

Also, the Super Ugly surfboard includes state-of-the-art materials to make it faster, lighter, and more durable.

The Ugly® “1966 Special Edition”

9′ to 10′ 6″ with lots of extras, $2,300

The Ugly Bob Purvey Design 1966 Special Edition (SE) is the original design specification, is numbered, and comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Bob Purvey.

Check out The Ugly Legend, it’s storied history, and why the wide blunt nose gave The Ugly its name.  The Ugly, Bob Purvey Design, 1966 Special Edition noserider, became the production model that Bob rode to win the 1966 Morey-Pope professional noseriding contest, thereby first making The Ugly famous.

The Ugly, after three decades, The Ugly has withstood the test of time and has become the standard-bearer for noseriding-style longboard shapes, as was featured in Longboard Magazine’s “In Search of the Ultimate Noserider,” Nov/Dec 1996.

The design has the classic foam spreader for a broad nose, an extensive concave under the nose, a kicked-up tail, soft 50/50 rails, and Volan glass with a high gloss polish.
